Talking prompts are brightly illustrated cards featuring philosophical questions to engage children in conversation in a different way.
It's fun and important to talk with children. So ask questions like 'how was school today?' or 'what did you do this weekend?'. Unfortunately, these questions are not always stimulating enough to have a good conversation. But what should you talk about instead?
These 50 philosophical questions encourage children to think and provide a starting point for a different conversation; at home around the kitchen table or at school in a circle. You draw a card and the conversation can begin.
Each question can evoke multiple philosophical themes such as truth, time, friendship, identity, equality, freedom and much more. It doesn't matter which theme the conversation ends up on. Each card contains an illustration that supports the question and often also prompts thinking.
The only thing the adult needs to do is to encourage the children to think further by questioning their answers, for example with one of the questions on the back of the cards.
